Hervey Bay Business Network

{ November 29th, 2007 }

hb-business-network.jpgBy Jeanette Maynes

Recently Design House became a part of the Hervey Bay Business Network that provides first class, non political networking opportunities for Fraser Coast business people while raising vital funds for worthwhile local charities.

Working in closely with Scott Rowe, General Manager of “The Independent Newspaper”, we had the pleasure of designing and developing an informative website for members and interested parties of the Hervey Bay Business Network.

Last week I attended the 2nd business luncheon with keynote speaker Michael Groom who has conquered five of hb-business-network-2.jpgthe globe’s highest mountains (Mount Everest in 1993), without the aid of bottled oxygen. I found Michael extremely interesting and inspirational, thoroughly enjoying his eye opening presentation and slide show.

The food was delicious and the service exceptional.

We really appreciate the opportunity to be a part of such a modern advertising and business / social network that seems to have incite and vision through the unity of so many businesses on an equal and professional level. Your domain name, and how to ensure you keep it safe and why.

We all know what a domain name is, its your website address, like designhouse.com.au or google.com.au. Our domain name lets everyone know where our website is basically. When you’re getting a domain name purchased on behalf of yourself, you need to ensure a number of things:
The domain is purchased in your business details, such as your ABN
You are listed as the Registrant of the domain, this includes your email

Ensuring that your details are listed as the registrant gives you the peace of mind, that should your website designer, or web hosting company disappear, you can still re-claim your domain name.

If you were to loose your domain name, it would be an expensive exercise to get everything back in order, as you’ll need to re-print all stationary, re-optimise your new domain for SEO.

To check whether you are your domain names registrant, head to the AusRegistry Website and do a lookup on your website, here

{ September 21st, 2007 }

bdbwebsite-4.jpgby Jeanette Maynes

Now this site means business!
A professional, informative, user friendly website created especially to depict the professional service you will experience at Bell Dixon Butler Lawyers.

Steve Dixon was instrumental in the website construction, suppling the current and relevant explanatory content and worked in closely with the Design House team through all stages of the design process.

As Steve keeps up with the current internet trends he decided to add a modern blog to the website enabling the staff at BDB to keep clients up to date with current legislation, news and events.

We recommended Stewart from StewArt Photography  www.stewartphotography.com.au be brought in to capture the images we required to enhance the powerful design and content already in place. As you will see his images are magnificent.

Jeanette caught up with Steve at the last Business Hervey Bay Drinks and presented his website promo shirt on completion of the job. The Business Hervey Bay monthly get togethers are a great networking opportunity.

Why Blog??

{ September 18th, 2007 }

redwriteweb.jpgBy Kimberley Martin

Blogs are quickly appearing from under a shroud of mystery in Australia. What started as an outlet for frustrated writers to air their views has been quickly seized as a clever marketing tool for big business and small alike.
Why??

Reach The Masses
Just for a minute, try to comprehend the size of an international online audience. Is it bigger than your local paper? Bigger than regional television? Bigger than a national newspaper? You betcha! Quality, informative articles on your blog can attract countless readers for you to convert to subscribers, leads and customers.

Customer Relations
A blog provides a forum for two way communication between your business and your customers. They learn more about you and can then offer you valuable feedback. It is also a great proving ground for new ideas and products.

SEO
Search Engine Optimisation is a term on everybody’s lips at the moment. We all want to increase our chances of being recognised. Search engine spiders will quickly recognise fresh, updated content, ie blogs. Add to this some clever keyword usage and your posts can be listed under various searches.

Target Your Market
A blog that relates to your business will attract readers who are already interested in your products or services. Imagine your customers coming to you without an advertising dollar being spent!

The advantages of a business blog are numerous. For a small initial outlay and some regular time spent tapping away at your keyboard, you have a marketing tool that continues to work for you. Of course, if you think its just another job to add to your already endless list, call in a professional writer to do the mental work. The possible return on investment is almost unfathomable.

Mobile Phone Boosters

{ September 14th, 2007 }

By Ben MayQuantel Mobile Phone Boosters

Another week, another website has been born into the world!

This week we up loaded www.mobilephoneboosters.com.au to the internet.

Quantel Mobile Phone Boosters, as the name suggests, sells boosters that work the normal mobile phone networks, be it GSM (Normal Digital), 3G or CDMA. This was one of those jobs where we learned quite a bit. Little did I know there was a product out there that would

Web Design Hervey Bay

pickup the phone signal then rebroadcast it even further in the direction you need. Immediately we saw there would be a huge demand in rural Australia where signal was not so impressive - which can be said for a fair percentage of the country.

If you’re on a large property, or an area that suffers from bad reception, it’s time to talk to Quantel Mobile Phone Boosters!

The Quantel website is an example of a Budget Website Package from Design House! It included Website Design, Hosting, 3 pages, email hosting etc. The Secure Site (SSL) was an added expense, to accept credit cards.
