Recession Proof Your Branding

Last month was the biggest turnover I have ever experienced while operating my business and we are supposed to be in a global financial crisis!

Why do I think this is happening…..?

Quite simply; the best brands will survive and may even thrive!

Now is the time to use your brand to drive into you core market.
Perfect your branding, fix your fundamentals, sharpen your vision, hit the right price and grow loyalty within your current client base.

Some of my advice:

  • Focus on advertising with clear and proven return on investment, such as Internet and promotional advertising.
  • Spread positive word of mouth about your brand by touching base with your loyal clients via monthly enewsletters.
  • ‘Share the Pain’; Get closer to your potential clients or consumers during tough times by offering pro-active tailored products or services showing you care. eg. “When times are tough our Budget Website Package will soften the blow and help increase your money flow!”
  • Focus on your brands core base instead of chasing new more expensive customers, with the right branding they will come to you!
  • It is vital your advertising looks sharp and in line with current design trends!
    Poorly designed brands and advertising can make your business look unprofessional and lose you sales in an instant!
  • It might be time to consider a business revamp to stand out from your competitors and launch a positive fresh brand to your core business & potential clients making them feel secure in your business growth, services and products especially during these hard times.
  • Do you have a website? No, well you may be losing thousands of potential customers plus an online presence will install confidence in you core clients that you are recession proof!

Whatever you do, don’t make the mistake of cutting advertising from your budget during a recession. This may seem like it is saving you money but will cost you more in the long run or may take your business from Slow Sales to NO Sales! Research suggests that businesses that advertise and drive their brand through a recession reap the rewards long after the hard times are over.
